Essence of The Pause

The Pause is a natural way of being.

The natural pause is present in all our most basic functions, such as our breathing. It is a natural process and an effortless phenomenon that exists all around us. It occupies the space where the person becomes quiet and silent in a natural way. The space created in moments of pause offers new possibilities and allows the emergence of broader and more creative responses. 
 
Reconnecting with our natural ability to pause reduces the influence of conditioned perception and automatic response. It supports a response to life situations that is not dominated by intellectual processes and reasoning. The natural pause creates the space for a more flexible, deeply felt and authentic engagement with ourselves and others.  
 
The natural pause does not require special instructions, prescribed conditions, quiet spaces, solidarity or established introspective routines and schedules. It can be experienced in the context of our daily life, our everyday interactions and encounters. 



The Pause is Simple

Through the pause we learn to listen to the ‘content’ and connect to our life situations with simplicity. The pause in its pure essence is not a technique, a training tool, or something we can own as an organization.  It is a Way of engaging simply with our inner and outer world.  
 
The pause is something that belongs and is available to everybody. Something that we can practice to embrace and attend to more regularly. It is a choice we can exercise during our daily lives that can support us live in harmony and peace. The simplest and the best way to spread the pause is… to PAUSE.




The pause is a pathway to the deeper ‘felt’ of our life

The natural pause provides instantaneous and effortless access to our deeper felt sense. When we pause, we are able to perceive-and-act-in-our-contexts, accessing information beyond the habitual conditioned perception, and discover new ways of approaching familiar life situations.  
 
Through the pause, we learn to have a relation with the context we live in (the environmental, social, economic, family context etc). We learn to naturally respond, rather than react to life situations. The natural pause allows space for people to express themselves, be themselves, and become more effective in their interactions with others. When we pause, listening and attention emerge naturally. We connect deeply with our ‘felt’ awareness of the situation. We do not simply think about our situation, we experience its totality in and with our whole essence.
